If you need to haul nine people and their stuff in drama-free comfort, the Yukon XL is for you. It rides on a wheelbase that is more than a foot longer than the Yukon and is powered by either a 355-hp, 5.3-liter V-8 or—in upscale Denali trim—a 420-hp, 6.2-liter V-8. While the 5.3 has a six-speed automatic, the 6.2 now has an eight-speed. Both offer standard rear- or optional four-wheel drive. While it isn’t exactly fuel efficient, the XL is an outstanding utility vehicle, sans the sport.
